I bought the red light. It doesn't look nearly as cool as the yellow light pictured.

I chose the 7 12 foot model because I was looking for a tall floor lamp. Most are four plus and five plus feet high only at best. The height in and of itself makes a dramatic effect - night or day. As far as assembly, this is one product where you MUST read the assembly instructions. Nothing difficult, but read carefully and follow all instructions. And be gentle. It can be easily damaged if you're not careful. You can do it by yourself but it's so much easier to assemble if you have someone else helping you.
I strongly suggest the use of a remote onoff switch WITH a dimmer feature. It makes all the difference in the world, having the ability to set the lighting at different levels. I can't imagine using mine with only the ability to turn it on at full brightness.
As far as appearance, the pictures that you'll see here are not accurate. First of all, there is a design of sorts on the lamp, where the folds are on the corrugated parchment. It's a significant part of the design and the appearance and that's fine. Look carefully at the pictures here. You may discern somewhat of a pattern, but the pattern is VERY dramatic once you see it in person - visible day and night. Secondly, the lamp does not come with the wooden caps, top and bottom as shown. Rather, it comes with white plastic caps. The wooden caps have been replaced with the white plastic caps by the manufacturer, for whatever reason. Again, a nice piece but not without a few surprises.
Outstanding product--love it!

We highly recommend it, if considering purchasing the lamp. We had a little difficulty without instructions but once you begin it really wasn't to difficult. Enjoy. We have received lots of compliments. It is an eye catcher immediately as you enter the house.

When we first opened this unassembled lamp and examined the pieces, we were astonished that we just paid over 200 for a piece of cardboard and some plastic links. But once the lamp came together, it was pretty amazing. It is a unique, eye catching piece of decor, and we are very pleased with the purchase.

Great lamp, a little bigger than I expected, but fits very well. Great designer work, amazingly simple construction and basic materials.
it is corrugated white cardboard

This lamp looks nice at night lit up. The glow is soft and the light ambient. However. It is not worth $278. (I bought the tall one as I wanted a drama look in the corner). It zips together and some of the corrugation was crushed. It had to turn it so that didn't show and the zipper didn't show. It is held together by a plastic top and bottom. Because of the cord coming out the bottom It wont' sit perfectly level. It is nice but not worth the high price.

Very nice floor lamp. Beautiful design and lighting. Tall and fills high ceiling rooms. Easy and quick to put together.

It would be perfect it it were weighted at the bottom so as to be more stable.
Really cool room accent light

Really cool design that looks good whether lit or off. Pretty easy to assemble, though the body is rather delicate, making it tricky to relocate once assembled.
With the necessary monies in the bank to sustain living expenses for 6 months, Roland Simmons left his job as an industrial designer in the San Francisco Bay Area. With the drive to succeed and the willingness to fail, Roland Simmons set out to become one of today's most innovative and respectable designers.
Within a vacant, neighboring apartment in his complex, Roland Simmons began to discover the possibilities of constructing contemporary art and lighting out of single faced corrugated parchment. One of his early designs was sought for and distributed by the respectable George Kovacs. The piece was named the "Mummy Lamp".
Since 1976, Roland Simmons has been designing and constructing contemporary lighting. His innovative designs have received numerous awards and recognition around the globe. Now, based in Cowley, Wyoming, among the towering mountains of Yellowstone National Park, Roland Simmons continues to design and hand cut every piece that leaves the factory. The company, Interfold, Inc., is family owned and operated by his son Todd Simmons.
Today, these pieces are known as the Roland Simmons Lumalights. They are found all over the world. Each Lumalight comes with Roland's personal signature guarantee of authenticity and quality. Where there is Light, there can be no darkness. We invite you to enjoy one of our creations in your home.
