I didn't use the smart bulb as others did. Not quite a snap to put together (lining up the base takes patience). We only had one viable bulb at the time of assembling the lamps (as seen in photo), a fluorescent light bulb, which is a touch too bright, so we've ordered A19 LED light bulbs that emit soft white light (2700K)..
