We purchased the Cal King and a beautiful and solid wood piece that was easy to put together. We added a 9” box spring and have a 10” purple mattress on top; this gave a good height and I would recommend no lower then 18-20” because then you would see the non decorative slat on the headboard. The only issue, and this was in a previous review is that with the Cal King there is a few inches extra length. You don’t notice when the bed is made up but in order to keep your pillows from sliding off the bed we pushed the decorative pillows down between the mattress and headboard. I liked the piece enough to make the concession and maybe in the future we would build a 2x2 frame and add fabric to make an end piece to fit in here. If you push the mattress and box spring up to the head of the bed then you get the extra inches at the foot which is very obvious. The bed is absolutely beautiful and the assembly was easy enough. Unfortunately, when the boxes arrived, the bag containing all the hardware (screws, nuts, bolts, etc,) was not sealed and the pieces were loose in the box. Luckily we did not see any damage to the wood due to hardware scratching it in transit. However, when the box was opened the hardware piece's rolled out everywhere. Bed was wrapped and packaged well. Super easy to put together. Not sure about the stability or noise as stated in other reviews but it seems sturdy. Waiting for our boxed mattress to expand. Took off one star due to the chipped paint on the headboard (only part that can’t get a replacement piece) of course on the side that will be noticed. But Wayfair gave me 20 refund. I searched for months for a bed that would fit around and hide the ugly plastic platform that came with our sleep number adjustable bed. The requirements were so specific, and I almost lost hope until I found this one. Bonus, it looks really nice too! We had white glove service, but basically the guys just had to remove the piece on the side slats that the rail sit on and then just push the connector pieces in. Took no time at all.
