Cranston Writing Desk

Well packaged and delivered quickly without incidence. Very easy to install the legs, but the screws that hold on the drawer handles in place were not predrilled and were very difficult to install straight and tight. My husband had to finish the last 1/4" of each screw as I did not have adequate hand/wrist strength to get them in far enough to keep the handle tight. The metal on the desk is fairly good quality as well as the laminated panels on the bottom and sides. The top is solid wood (I believe based on the feel and heft) however, it has a noticeable sag in the middle from side to side. It really bothers my husband as he can easily see it. See photo where you can actually see daylight/space in the middle of the level that is resting on either side of the desktop. Probably wouldnt bother me if not for the cost of the desk which is higher than comparable sized desks on other sites. Too much of a pain to send back, but wish that the desktop would have been level for something at that price point.

Maybe it was in the description somewhere, but I missed it This desk has two large screw holes drilled in the back of the unit to secure to a wall in case of earthquake. I have the desk in the placed in the middle of a room and these holes are very apparent even from a distance. If I had known these holes existed, I would have made a different choice. Also, as others have commented, the holes for the drawer pulls are not pre-drilled. Apart from these two facts, it’s a nice and attractive little unit.

Ordered for my son and it is perfect since it does not take up a lot of space. Note the drawer handles have to be drilled in.
