About the Designer
Finland (1962 - )
Born in Varkus, Finland in 1962, Mikaela Dörfel exhibits an extraordinary sensitivity for innovative shapes. After completing her studies in industrial design in Hamburg, she spent eight years as Design Manager for Rosenthal. In 1996 she established her own firm. Porcelain and stainless steel are her materials of choice. She uses these for mono as well as other companies, creating fascinating products for the discerning table.
Clearly defined lines, a high degree of functionality and some noteworthy details: the teapot handle, which holds the lid in place when pouring, the precisely fitting strainer insert, and the cantilevered teapot warmer with the elevated candle. The teacups are stackable, with the metal ring serving as stacking guide.
