About the Designer
Renzo Piano Renzo Piano Italy (1937 - )

Renzo Piano was born in Genoa, Italy in 1937. From 1959 to 1964 he studied at the Milan Politecnico, where he taught until 1968. In 1970 Piano established a partnership with the English architect Richard Rogers. Together, Rogers and Piano designed a number of buildings in Italy and England. Their most famous building, the Pompidou Center in Paris, takes its form from a metaphor of the 'cultural machine' with all color-coded service elements and structure emphasized on the building's exterior. Like most works designed by members of the "High-Tech" movement, Piano established technology as a starting point for his designs. Fortunately, he modified his attempts to generate an architectural character based on technological forms with a concern for user comfort and needs. In his more recent works, Piano has applied his structural experiments to a range of social and civic projects.

Fitting naturally into the diner’s grip, the appealing curves of this contemporary cutlery service make it as attractive to hold as it is to behold. In spite of its unique design, it allows for many matching combinations with a wide variety of bowls and serving trays.

good product

daphne from CA– Verified Buyer

The product is well made and the design is beautiful. I've had the flatware for a few years now and there are some scratches most likely from the dishwasher but overall not too much complaint. The reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is that for the price, I thought I would be getting something made in Finland, or Germany. Instead, this was made in Korea.

thin but well made

Kellie from New York, NY– Verified Buyer

I bought this set of silverware to replace a cheap set i had from college. The utensils are light but seem to be well made. The smallest fork is rather small but it will work for salads or snacks.

Top quality and modern too!

Cecilia from Houston, TX– Verified Buyer

I took me a long time to decide on a new silverware, and finally I decided on the iittala Piano. It's wonderful. Shape and quality is top notch, modern yet elegant. It's very comfortable to use and to wash. We've been using them for about a year and they are holding up very well.

Piano flatware

John from Manhattan Beach, CA– Verified Buyer

As expected and as other pieces in the set, the spoons feel comfortable in the hand. Well balanced and a good daily item.

Beautiful spoon

Kelly from Mankato, MN– Verified Buyer

I use this as a condiment spoon. It's deep and has nice weight to it.

Pros: Deep spoon with nice weight
Cons: A little expensive

Great every day utensils

Debra from United States– Verified Buyer

We already had 12 place settings (11 yrs old from our wedding registry, and at that time made by Hackman) and wanted to add more. We have been happy with these for more than a decade and the old ones look just as good as the new.

Admirer of Finnish design

G from Bay Area, CA– Verified Buyer

It's definitely beautiful. I knocked off a star because I was disappointed that it's made in China rather than Finland. Now I feel I paid too much for it.

Piano Flatware by Iitals

John from Manhattan Beach, CA– Verified Buyer

Great original design which has been modified in recent years. Newer proportions are modestly different than when produced by Hackmann, most will not find this an issue.
