Alberto Mantilla (1961 - )ALBERTO MANTILLA was born in Bogotá, Colombia and graduated with a BA in Industrial Design from Javeriana University in 1983. Alberto worked for Henry Dreyfuss Associates before co-founding Curve ID with Anthony Baxter in 1994. Curve ID is a design consultancy with a wide range of well known clients including: Nike, John Deere, Pyrex and Colgate Palmolive. In 2001 he co-founded Mint Inc with Anthony Baxter and Scott Henderson. Alberto's work has been the subject of numerous design articles including TIME Magazine's "Best Designs of the Year" article in 1998 and has won many design awards including two prestigious IDEA awards, ID Magazine's "Design Distinction" award, and a Colombian Lapiz de Acero award.
The very nature of the "Hug Salt and Pepper Shaker" connotes brotherhood. The bold use of black and white suggests that we are all brothers and sisters on this planet and we need to treat each other with kindness, compassion and respect. Sweet salt A wonderful quirky addition for my table. The only change I'd suggest is larger holes to accommodate restaurant style pepper & kosher salt. |
