Giancarlo Mattioli Italy A designer of modern classics! Giancarlo Mattioli is not afraid of going outside of the box. His Nesso series features contemporary mushroom shaped fixtures that have been represented in museums in New York, Colorodo, Jerusalem, Montreal and Italy.
The Nesso table and wall lamp from is great for direct or indirect diffused and incandescent lighting. The Nesso is constructed of injection molded ABS thermoplastic. This collection has been represented in many fine art museums all over the world. One of the most famous lamps in the 60s/70s. A true classic. The love of my life It was love at first sight when I first saw this lamp in a magazine. Fast forward years (10??) later and I finally found the nerve to buy it (I don't know about you, but I normally don't shell out nearly $500 for a lamp... And it's orange?!). It arrived on my doorstep one day, and my first thought was, um, that's a big box. Then I opened it and my second thought was, that is a lot of orange plastic. Then I started having buyer's remorse, and thought, well, I could use it as a really big & orange & expensive salad bowl. But then I added the bulbs, I plugged it in, and it is...perfection incarnate. The glow is sublime. The shape is resplendent. What I love most about it is that it doesn't take itself seriously, know what I mean? It sits happily on top of a $100 dresser from Ikea in our living room, but feels right at home... |
