This 1959 photograph, "Beauty and the Beast", offers a rare glimpse into the opulent interiors of Palm Beach high society, where glamour and eccentricity often intersected. Lady Daphne Cameron, poised atop a tiger skin rug in the trophy room of Laddie Sanford’s estate, personifies the elegance and theatricality that defined the social elite of the era. Set against a backdrop of lavish furnishings and curated grandeur, the image captures a moment where wealth, fashion, and exotic indulgence coalesced into a singular aesthetic vision that would come to define mid-century American aristocracy. Slim Aarons, renowned for his evocative photographs of, as he described it, "attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places," was the quintessential chronicler of high society. After serving as a war photographer, Aarons turned his lens to a new landscape: the glamorous lives of Hollywood elites, Palm Beach socialites, and jet-setting debutantes and princes. His work for society publications captured an aspirational world of leisure and luxury that defined the American upper class throughout the mid-20th century, creating images that remain timeless symbols of sophistication and style. The photograph is presented as a high-resolution scan of the photo's original photographic slide, complete with hand-lettered archival notations along the mount. Offered exclusively by Soicher Marin, this edition preserves the full character of the original format, transforming it into a striking piece of wall art that merges history, authenticity, and timeless style. More than a photograph, it is a curated artifact of American cultural glamour, bringing a refined yet playful sophistication to any well-appointed interior. Every piece in our unique Slim Aarons collection is meticulously handcrafted using archival materials and printed on premium, luster photographic paper with environmentally safe inks, custom framed by skilled artisans who ensure that each work of art meets the exacting standards befitting such an iconic photograph.

Ericka Wolf is an encaustic and oil artist working in Seattle, Washington. Combined with her study of color in the landscape of the natural world, Ericka tries to capture an expression that's transient and intentionally uncomplicated. Something reductive but reflective, using color as a luminous expression rather than illustration. In Ericka's current work, she's creating skies with a serenity that she has seen and felt before, and that she tries to imagine during bleak winter months in Seattle. When the state of the world itself seems bleak, she finds a quiet slowness by contemplating the sky and the broad juxtaposing of color that can exist in myriad ways. It's a calming opposite to our overstimulated culture: chaotic events and unending social media. For Ericka, the sky seems like the perfect metaphor for life-expansiveness, even though at the times dark or dangerous, ultimately beautiful in all of its vibrancy and impermanence.

Captured in 1972, this vibrant image, "Poolside Backgammon", reflects the hedonistic glamour of Las Brisas, Acapulco, a hotspot for international elites during the golden age of jet-set leisure. Set at Villa Nirvana, the private estate of Mexican industrialist Oscar Obregón, the scene is a sun-soaked tableau of wealth, style, and leisure where guests lounge, socialize, and play poolside games against a backdrop of whitewashed architecture and panoramic views. As Mexico’s Pacific coast emerged as a playground for celebrities and aristocrats, this photograph epitomized the luxurious ease and carefree elegance that defined the era’s social elite. Slim Aarons, renowned for his evocative photographs of, as he described it, "attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places," was the quintessential chronicler of high society. This vibrant 1975 scene at La Concha Beach Club in Acapulco, Mexico, epitomizes the effortless glamour and leisure of the mid-1970s elite. The sun-drenched setting, with bathers reclining on a striped floating platform and shaded by tropical palms, captures a moment of relaxed luxury amid one of Mexico’s most coveted coastal retreats. La Concha was a favored destination for jet-setters seeking sun, sea, and sophisticated socializing during an era defined by opulence and carefree elegance. This image preserves the spirit of a bygone time when resort culture flourished and high society embraced the pleasures of seaside leisure. Slim Aarons, renowned for his evocative photographs of, as he described it, "attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places," was the quintessential chronicler of high society. This sun-drenched 1958 photograph, "Vuccino and Rava", captures the effortless glamour of Capri, one of the most iconic destinations of mid-century Mediterranean leisure. With the postwar boom fueling a surge in European coastal tourism, Capri became a haven for socialites, aristocrats, and stars seeking both privacy and style. Pictured here aboard a boat gliding through the Tyrrhenian Sea, Carla Vuccino and Marina Rava embody the relaxed luxury and refined sensuality that defined the era. Their swimwear, poise, and backdrop of deep blue water reflect the timeless allure of the Italian Riviera at its most fashionable.
