This 1959 photograph, "Beauty and the Beast", offers a rare glimpse into the opulent interiors of Palm Beach high society, where glamour and eccentricity often intersected. Lady Daphne Cameron, poised atop a tiger skin rug in the trophy room of Laddie Sanford’s estate, personifies the elegance and theatricality that defined the social elite of the era. Set against a backdrop of lavish furnishings and curated grandeur, the image captures a moment where wealth, fashion, and exotic indulgence coalesced into a singular aesthetic vision that would come to define mid-century American aristocracy. Slim Aarons, renowned for his evocative photographs of, as he described it, "attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places," was the quintessential chronicler of high society. After serving as a war photographer, Aarons turned his lens to a new landscape: the glamorous lives of Hollywood elites, Palm Beach socialites, and jet-setting debutantes and princes. His work for society publications captured an aspirational world of leisure and luxury that defined the American upper class throughout the mid-20th century, creating images that remain timeless symbols of sophistication and style. The photograph is presented as a high-resolution scan of the photo's original photographic slide, complete with hand-lettered archival notations along the mount. Offered exclusively by Soicher Marin, this edition preserves the full character of the original format, transforming it into a striking piece of wall art that merges history, authenticity, and timeless style. More than a photograph, it is a curated artifact of American cultural glamour, bringing a refined yet playful sophistication to any well-appointed interior. Every piece in our unique Slim Aarons collection is meticulously handcrafted using archival materials and printed on premium, luster photographic paper with environmentally safe inks, custom framed by skilled artisans who ensure that each work of art meets the exacting standards befitting such an iconic photograph.

Fantastic that looks great on our long dining room wall. I wanted to add a feeling of movement and energy on the wall and these did that for me wonderfully. They coordinate with the color of the wood in the dining room table and chairs and make the room feel very "bespoke." Very excited to have found these on Allmodern. Yay!. Anonymous. Sun Apr 16 2023

This vibrant 1975 scene at La Concha Beach Club in Acapulco, Mexico, epitomizes the effortless glamour and leisure of the mid-1970s elite. The sun-drenched setting, with bathers reclining on a striped floating platform and shaded by tropical palms, captures a moment of relaxed luxury amid one of Mexico’s most coveted coastal retreats. La Concha was a favored destination for jet-setters seeking sun, sea, and sophisticated socializing during an era defined by opulence and carefree elegance. This image preserves the spirit of a bygone time when resort culture flourished and high society embraced the pleasures of seaside leisure. Ericka Wolf is an encaustic and oil artist working in Seattle, Washington. Combined with her study of color in the landscape of the natural world, Ericka tries to capture an expression that's transient and intentionally uncomplicated. Something reductive but reflective, using color as a luminous expression rather than illustration. In Ericka's current work, she's creating skies with a serenity that she has seen and felt before, and that she tries to imagine during bleak winter months in Seattle. When the state of the world itself seems bleak, she finds a quiet slowness by contemplating the sky and the broad juxtaposing of color that can exist in myriad ways. It's a calming opposite to our overstimulated culture: chaotic events and unending social media. For Ericka, the sky seems like the perfect metaphor for life-expansiveness, even though at the times dark or dangerous, ultimately beautiful in all of its vibrancy and impermanence.

Captured in 1972, this vibrant image, "Poolside Backgammon", reflects the hedonistic glamour of Las Brisas, Acapulco, a hotspot for international elites during the golden age of jet-set leisure. Set at Villa Nirvana, the private estate of Mexican industrialist Oscar Obregón, the scene is a sun-soaked tableau of wealth, style, and leisure where guests lounge, socialize, and play poolside games against a backdrop of whitewashed architecture and panoramic views. As Mexico’s Pacific coast emerged as a playground for celebrities and aristocrats, this photograph epitomized the luxurious ease and carefree elegance that defined the era’s social elite. Slim Aarons, renowned for his evocative photographs of, as he described it, "attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places," was the quintessential chronicler of high society. Set against the balmy backdrop of the Bahamas in 1963, this vivid photograph, "Bahamas Speed Week", captures a fleeting moment of pre-race glamour at Nassau’s famed Oakes Course. At center stage is Gordon Butler’s Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray, its sleek red form surrounded by onlookers in crisp attire and casual ease. The scene evokes the golden age of motorsport when racing was as much about high society spectacle as it was about speed. The annual Speed Week attracted jet-setters, thrill-seekers, and style icons alike, transforming the island into a playground of performance and prestige. Slim Aarons, renowned for his evocative photographs of, as he described it, "attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places," was the quintessential chronicler of high society. Blue Harmony 1. A reproduction of work by Ottawa-based artist + designer Andrea Stokes, this piece is defined by organic shape, painterly texture, and cool, vivid color. It’s printed on paper in the USA using fade-resistant inks, and arrives in a wooden frame with hanging hardware.
Just the modern piece I needed to accent my favorite reading nook and give a quiet corner some POP! It came quickly and in very nice condition, and the light-scale champagne silver floating frame makes the print feel very finished and upscale for the price.. Rhonda. Seattle, WA. Mon Apr 24 2023
