This season we're embracing our inner designer and decorating with concrete by swapping out our furniture – both big and small pieces – for concrete decor options. We're adding concrete to our list of best outdoor furniture materials, and we're using concrete inside, too. For six of our top ideas for decorating with concrete, keep reading below.

1. A Concrete Dining Table

Concrete is a robust material made with a mix of sturdy elements including cement. This makes it a great choice for large pieces of furniture that are used often. While most dining tables are made from wood, a concrete table will give the dining room a unique design aesthetic. Concrete is durable and has an easy-to-clean surface – making it both chip- and scratch-resistant. The neutral color palette makes the tabletop ideal for decorating with seasonal items or trying a bold mixed-material dining chair. For a striking design, lay out an area rug in a bold color on the dining room floor. Different colors like turquoise, rustic orange, matte black, or crisp white help concrete dining tables pop.

Pro Tip:

Don't have enough space for a dining table and chairs? Tailor this concrete decorating idea to fit your home. Pull bar stools up to a concrete countertop for the same designer look in your small kitchen dining space.

2. Concrete Planters

Decorating with concrete is easiest with a couple of concrete planters. The sturdiness of concrete (made with heavy cement) gives the planters versatility – place them inside or outside on your patio. Concrete planters are great for windy cities because they are strong and will protect your plants from blowing over. Concrete indoor planters are on-trend and can fit into any room in your home including your kitchen, bedroom, living room, or bathroom. Because of its versatility, concrete planters come in many different shapes, colors, and designs. This allows a concrete planter to fit into practically any modern aesthetic.

Concrete is waterproof, so you can use concrete planters for plants that need a lot of water. Place small concrete planters on the bathroom vanity or windowsill, and larger planters on the bathroom floor. The steam won't damage the planters, and the plants will love the extra moisture.

3. Concrete Lighting

Concrete pendant lights and lamps are a great idea if you want to enhance your home design as they're long-lasting and have a distinct look. Concrete’s durability ensures the light fixture will last a long time, and its design will add a bespoke touch to any room. Because concrete lighting is generally neutral-colored, it's easy to match it to furniture and decor. The smooth, fabricated material gives it an industrial aesthetic. Pair concrete lighting with wood furniture and white walls to create a grounded, earthy vibe. Think: a concrete lamp with a wood nightstand.

4. A Concrete Coffee Table

If you're decorating with concrete and looking for a statement piece, we recommend a concrete coffee table. They provide a modern yet unexpected focal point to your living room. Concrete coffee tables are strong and made to last, giving you freedom to place as many books, beverages, and plants on top as you want. The finish prevents staining and chipping, making cleanup and caring for the table easy. And as a bonus, you'll never have to ask anybody to remember to use a coaster.

Pair the concrete coffee table with a woven wall hanging, plush area rug, blonde wood floors, or rattan furniture to add stark visual contrast to the smoothness of concrete. Whether you are hanging a light fixture with a concrete design or placing a concrete lamp on a table, make sure it is in a spot that is strong enough to support the heavy material.
