It has no weird smell. Yes it’s shedding but it’s supposed to for one year it’s wool and well made. The price point was unbeatable. This size rug usually sells for a lot more. I am a particular fan of this brand. I have quite a few of their other rugs, so I knew that I was going to get quality. Very pleased don’t be discouraged because it sheds it only sheds when you’re sweeping. Do be aware if you have kids and you want to get down on the floor with them it is wool. It’s not soft, fluffy.. I really think this is an excellent rug! The dark striations standout far more in reality than the photo and it does have a bit of disorienting effect if you stare at it long enough. But its charming, great weight, it laid down flat within a day. You can actually tell that it was a well made and crafted with intention. Way under priced in my opinion...don't debate; just buy it.
