This rug is not only beautiful but is sturdy and quite comfortable underfoot with the recommended rug pad. After unrolling it and placement, it was lying flat by the next day. It has the look of kind of an open weft and weave but it is in fact durable… much to my surprise when my kitties had to try their claws out on it (of course cuz it’s new) not a yarn was pulled up on it! I echo a lot of the other reviews: A nice, dense pile and the color can look olive or brown under different lighting. The streaks in the olive parts are a little more pronounced than expected but it doesn't detract from the overall look. I looked at other rugs in this price range and they were synthetic or the colors looked cheap. This rug is wool and the colors look classy. I appreciate whoever crafted this rug, it is beautiful and well made. It also “transitions” well from the middle eastern styled rug in the hallway which was also a factor for me.
