Moura Ivory Washable Hand-Woven Cotton Rug

Beautiful but less thicker than I expected

Excellent quality- actually Safavieh. Good bargain - plush soft

Does not match sectional colour. Very stinky and not like shown on the wayfair website.

Went out of my way to find and purchase a rug for my bedroom made of presumably natural, non-toxic materials. Only realized when I opened it up that it's made from recycled cotton (recycled from who knows what). This rug sheds like mad, but that's not its biggest problem. It has an unbearable smell which resembles that of perchloroethylene (or PERC). Six days of airing it out indoors and four days airing it out outdoors (always in the sun) had no effect. A soak in a bathtub filled with water and laundry soap turned the water dark yellow, but the smell persisted. Subsequent soaking with water + baking soda and water + vinegar followed by a 30min cold water rinse reduced the smell about 50%, but it still persists. I bought two different sizes and they both emit the same smell, so the smell is systemic to this design and not a one-off. I'll air it out for a few more days and then I'll have to toss it out since it gives me a terrible headache when I try to sleep with it in my bedroom.
