39.4" W Kids Writing Desk Learning Desk Set with Chair

This is a cute little desk. Agree with other reviews that the instructions are awful- some of the worst I’ve ever come across. The clamps that hold the shelves on are a major eyesore, I don’t understand why they made something so visible so terrible looking. I wish they attached in the back where you couldn’t see them. Otherwise the quality seems fine and my son loves it.

The table component of the desk is fine. All of our issues were with the hutch unit. Some of the wood in the hutch was warped, so it doesn’t assemble squarely. One of the back pieces was mismeasured. I had to cut it down by about a quarter inch to make it fit together. Predrilled dowel holes in the back pieces were misaligned. Assembled without those dowels. A couple of the wood shelf pieces cracked when fitting in dowels. The table is fine and the chair is comfortable. The hutch unit is cheap and difficult to assemble.

Cute desk but it came absolutely stinking of chemicals. I was worried all night that my daughter would be poisoned or wake up with a headache. What is in this wood???

Finish on the chair doesn't really match the desk that well (it's a bit lighter). There were no instructions with the chair (quite simple to assemble, but seems like some people might at least want a diagram or something). The desk is plenty high for an adult (I'm 6'4" and it's plenty high for my gangly legs). The chair works fine for my 9 year old on the lower setting, but the desk will be a bit too high for a few years. The delivery was also almost a week late. The quality of the desk and chair are what I'd call "just okay". The desk and chair fit together fairly nicely. The shelves on the top of the desk aren't really as nice. There are some really hokey fasteners that leave gaps between the parts, and the attachment to the desk (metal clamp with a brown plastic cover) is even uglier in person than in the pictures. Overall, I thought All Modern would be a step up from things like Wayfair, but it turns out that All Modern IS Wayfair with different branding. The desk will work well enough and my son is unlikely to ever outgrow it (even once he's outgrown the chair), but I'm pretty underwhelmed by All Modern.
