I'd give it 4.5 because the dimmer apparatus is rather clunky (it's a wheel you turn with your thumb that has more range of motion than the light itself, so too much turning to get it to the "off" position) but the overall look of the lamp is impressive. I got two for our bedside tables. I really wanted something dimmable for bedtime reading and these direct the light nicely. Looks better than I even hoped they would.
