Renovating two guest bedrooms, both are 12x12'. This 44" fan feels like the right size for a 144 sq ft room. I ran the new Romex wire to a switched receptacle by the entry door. I like the remote with cradle which I attached to the wall next to the switch. So upon entry flipping the switch turns on the fan/light as well as a bedside lamp plugged into the half-hot receptacle. The fan light is not real bright but adequate for a bedroom and dimmable. For looks I give 5 stars, my wife gives it 4. Fan is not whisper quiet and install was a bit more difficult than other ceiling fans I have hung. I found the "safety cable" to be useless - unless I put a screw into my freshly painted ceiling to attach it (?) plus it was in the way so I used tin snips & got rid of it. Its a very nice fan. A little noisy when its on high but I suppose its due to the the metal cutting through the air. The con is that Minka-Aire is not a straight forward universal ceiling fan with light type of product. It is difficult to find the coordinating pieces. Not all lighting kits work and not all Minka-Aire lighting kits work. Not all remote controls or wall mounted controls work nor Minka-Aire products. Has to be specific to the fan. It turned out to be quite a chore, not to mention expense, to get it just right. I like the fan, just not the trouble. I think this will be my last Minka-Aire purchase. . alfredo.
