Which is a pity, because the granny knot on which NUT is based sat proudly on the heraldic badge of the Bourchier family. We however are fortunate to live in an era when NUT can adorn our own little castles; a powerful symbol of our exquisite breeding. We can thank the brilliant Marivi Calvo and Ray Power for their valor and insight. Long may they reign supreme.

I got this pendant to replace an old glass and chrome fixture and improve task lighting over my counter without lighting up the whole room. In that role it works really well. The solid concrete shade directs light downward and keeps it focused, which is exactly what I wanted. We use dimmable ceiling lights for ambient lighting, so having a more controlled task light like this is a big improvement. The size is also well balanced. It has enough weight and presence to feel substantial, but it is not oversized or distracting. The finish looks clean and fits nicely into a modern industrial style. This is the second concrete pendant I have tried in my kitchen. Compared to that one , I like this version is much better in one key way. The shade is deeper and fully encloses the bulb. That makes a big difference when using brighter bulbs, since you do not see the exposed light source from normal working angles. The other version left the bulb partially visible, which I did not like for task lighting. This one avoids that issue and feels more refined in everyday use. There are still a couple things that could be improved. Like the other version, it is not perfectly straight when hanging. The cord is held by pinch style fittings that push it slightly off center. It does settle over time, but it never becomes perfectly aligned. Also, while the overall design is strong, a more refined bushing would go a long way toward making it feel more polished. This is a great looking pendant that does exactly what I wanted it to do. It provides clean, focused task lighting, avoids exposed bulbs, and fits the space well. Exactly the look we wanted. They look fresh and modern and not like everyone else’s typical round or tear drop pendants. Fun and lots of compliments! Minor issue that I think is not the worst still it’s something that should be prevented, but the extension pieces to decide how long the pendant should hang are not from the same color “dye lot” is what we imagine as some of the extensions don’t match in color to the others. But the lights are beautiful and if the focus is on the moments created under them and around the kitchen island, than the mismatched colors are truly not noticeable after a while.
