The description says metal but the ring around the light is plastic. I purchased this to compliment the queanbeyan light fixture. I am hoping it works out next to it as it is metal. Our ceilings are 16' in the foyer and stair well so it shouldn't be a problem. I do how ever have a problem with the description stating metal and the light actually being plastic. We are still in the construction phase, will add photos once installed
