I ordered a sideboard from Allmodern. First delivery the item was damaged and I did not accept delivery. The wood was cracked and peeling away on the bottom of the unit in a very visible area. There was alot of back and forth about whether another unit was available. I finally received a replacement. It too was damaged with some small gouges in the wood of the doors and around the edges. The wood was chipped along the bottom edge above the leg. There were a few red streaks like sharpie marker on the side of the unit. One door was not attached but the delivery men were able to fix it. There was a lot of rearranging of existing furniture to make room for the new piece which had to be put back while waiting for the replacement. Didn’t want to go through it a third time so I accepted the second piece at a 20% discount. Still had to pay over $1400 for damaged goods. I guess it’s not realistic to think that a new piece of furniture should arrive in good condition. I do like the piece of furniture but would expect undamaged goods and much less hassle. I only just received the cabinet today, so this is just based on first impressions. First is that it had sufficient protection in the box to ensure it arrives undamaged. Always appreciated. As for the cabinet itself, it's fantastic. I love that they have this slimmer model which fits in the small den area I have for my office desk. The powdered steel is smooth and looks good. I saw this in another review, it is essentially office furniture/storage as if it were designed by Apple. It's well built and looks nice, and that's what you're paying for. The sleigh-style supports and metal detail across the front and back give this design a more substantial feel despite its simplicity, and it's sure to go well in spaces ranging from Scandinavian to mid-century. Assembly is a snap (just attach the legs), and there's plenty of space to spread out both papers and a computer setup.
