I got this pendant to replace an old glass and chrome fixture and improve task lighting over my counter without lighting up the whole room. In that role it works really well. The solid concrete shade directs light downward and keeps it focused, which is exactly what I wanted. We use dimmable ceiling lights for ambient lighting, so having a more controlled task light like this is a big improvement. The size is also well balanced. It has enough weight and presence to feel substantial, but it is not oversized or distracting. The finish looks clean and fits nicely into a modern industrial style. This is the second concrete pendant I have tried in my kitchen. Compared to that one , I like this version is much better in one key way. The shade is deeper and fully encloses the bulb. That makes a big difference when using brighter bulbs, since you do not see the exposed light source from normal working angles. The other version left the bulb partially visible, which I did not like for task lighting. This one avoids that issue and feels more refined in everyday use. There are still a couple things that could be improved. Like the other version, it is not perfectly straight when hanging. The cord is held by pinch style fittings that push it slightly off center. It does settle over time, but it never becomes perfectly aligned. Also, while the overall design is strong, a more refined bushing would go a long way toward making it feel more polished. This is a great looking pendant that does exactly what I wanted it to do. It provides clean, focused task lighting, avoids exposed bulbs, and fits the space well. These pendants are a great addition for a small island countertop (7ft). They really elevated the aesthetic of the lights in our kitchen. You can use any A19 bulb, but we ended up using Edison bulbs to dim the lighting from the pendants. If you're a tall person, make sure you hang them at an ideal height, as the glass does not block all light and will hit your eye level and will not be pleasant -- part of the reason we chose to use Edison bulbs.. Be aware that if you don't have the pendant ready electrical, you will need to install a pendent conversion kit for recessed lighting, which requires a few tools and a capable hand. We have two hanging above the dining room table and they look very nice. The bulb provided is a bit too white for the coloring of the lamp so looking to switch to a warmer hue. Very happy with the price vs. what they look like in person. Pretty easy to install aside from having to cut the main cord and then having the nylon to get to the wires, and then recut the wires to have them exposed properly. I installed three over our kitchen island, and (embarrassingly) I actually dropped one because it was not fully secured to the ceiling. When it hit the counter. I expected it to shatter, or have a major dent in it, since the counter quartz and the outside of the light is some meta., but it did not show any major signs of deformation.
