I purchased a 13.5 quart cocotte in dark blue. The glaze is simply gorgeous! It is a deep, true cobalt blue. It is not a royal or mid-tone blue as some of the online pictures suggest. Functionally, this pot is quite large. Its base perfectly covers a 13" burner. It is deep and spacious enough to cook a large roasting chicken or small turkey. Big batches of chowder or stew --enough to serve a crowd-- can be made in this wonderful pot. I highly recommend it to anyone who (1) loves cooking with cast iron, (2) loves eating food cooked in cast iron, (3) has an appreciation for one-of-a-kind craftsmanship (such as hand glazed thrown pottery), and (4) is able to lift, maintain, and store a very heavy large pot. I would not recommend the cocotte for 'quick and easy' high heat cooking. It is better suited to slow cooked, 'simmer all day' recipes.. Alison. New Hampshire. 2016-01-22 22:47:18
