This table for my dining nook arrived very well packaged! The top piece came in wood box with styrofoam, bottom piece in sturdy box. I would recommend paying for assembly because the item is extremely heavy. The base and the top are concrete. The spec sheet says the base is metal but it is not. Top and bottom are concrete and match each other perfectly. It is a good statement piece but without being showy. Even though it is chunky it has refined lines and is well made. Gorgeous and very sturdy table once put together. Instructions to assemble are sort of unclear on a lot of aspects and I’m usually a person that can put literally anything together but this gave me a little scratch on the head nevertheless still got it done in under an hour. This table is gorgeous. I wanted a solid wood table top, not a veneer. It looks black in the photos, but in real life it's very dark with brown undertones in the stain. The effect is gorgeous, but definitely not black up close. I did have an issue with the hardware during assembly: needed to go out and purchase longer screws (4) and additional washers (12). This is the only time I've ever had an issue assembling an AllModern piece. Luckily it was only a $7 trip to the hardware store to fix so I didn't need to get Customer Service involved, but the assembly/hardware for this product needs to be reviewed. Been looking for a real wood table (not mdf) with solid countertop. This is a very elegant solid made table. There are 3 metal parts where the countertop screws into and one is dented so we did not install the top yet because it is heavy and may wobble. The countertop needs to be sealed, or order a thick pvc table covering. Attached are photos of one of the metal part that is dented and one that is not. It is also higher than normal table height. It is 31 inches not 30. Thought it won't make that big a difference but it does. This table may not be ideal for younger kids, unless you have higher seated chairs.
