The bottom part is sturdy as well, I currently have multiple coffee books and plants on it and it's solid. Took about 15 minutes to assemble. It looks high end and like real wood. This is a beautiful table with sleek lines and a rich color. We also purchased the matching coffee table. Chose these pieces for the modern looking design but also for the size of the tables — we were looking for a very long console table to fit well with a 7' sofa. This console table is 78" long which is a rare find. Would give a five star rating except that we have found these tables scratch pretty easily and so will require plexiglass or something similar to protect the tops. it's beautiful but it arrived damaged. I'm keeping it anyway because of the trouble it would have been to return it. It's pretty and the damage is hidden but the packaging was intense to keep it safe so it's surprising that it came as damaged as it was.
