Solid piece. All you have to do is screw on the legs. We couldn't get one screw in because the hole on the metal bar was not aligned with the hole on the cabinet. Is still stable though. My only complaint is I thought the door on the right would hinge open. Instead it slides over the drawers so if they are not closed all the way, you hit the drawers.
