There may be some discrepancy on the website or manufacturer claims. Initially I would have preferred 75, because there is room but 70 inches works much better for conversation with 4 guests. Tl;dr: A solid table with the thinnest top veneer you can imagine. We bought this table for our new apartment. I had never bought a brand new dining room table. It looked so good in our newly renovated apartment, but I am disappointed in how poorly the table top has held up. In just four months of use, the veneer is cracking and bubbling. I have no idea why this is happening. It seems like a dining room table should be able to stand up to normal things you put on a table, like hot plates of food, dishes, glasses...normal things. The surface is so delicate that I'm afraid to put anything slightly hard on it for fear it will scratch more. I really don't think this should be happening so quickly, and especially considering that we paid upwards of $1300 for it. I'm looking into glass or some other protective cover (that I should't have to buy). Looks nice as a show piece. Not so great as a practical table you can actually use. Easy to put together.
