Push the buttons on the side to activate the footrests and get the back at just the right angle.

The chair is everything I hoped for. It doesn’t look like a recliner, it is not large, the upholstery is very well done and the fabric is the color described. Mechanical movement is smooth. It comes in two pieces and assembly is simple, but it’s quite heavy, so you’ll likely need help getting it into place. I’m taking off one star because of the packaging. The back legs aren’t protected, and mine arrived cracked. The first one I received had a completely broken leg and had to be returned. Given the size and weight of the box, this feels like an avoidable issue. The reclining mechanism is a bit stiff at first and can catch you off guard, but I expect that to improve with use. Overall, it’s an elegant chair that fits well with different decor styles. One heads-up: unpacking takes some effort. Very nice chair. Very plush. I am 6 ft and the support on my neck and head feels perfect. I’ve always loved the Vala chair and I can definitely see that was the influence here. I purchased for a very good sale price and it feels like an absolute steal. Site says it is top grain leather, if it is, it has a lot of finishing on the top as evident by how uniform the grain is.
