It is not white or cream but almost a light taupe. There were two defects. One was on edge of one of bottoms of the base (small ding in the MDF). That one I could have lived with since I could have turned towards our couch. The other is on the top (small, circular indentation) and small mark (probably could have gotten the mark out). Since the indentation was on top of the piece and due to color not being as advertised, I will be returning. Otherwise, design overall and size both good.
