We searched online and in stores for a long time before landing on the Dakota bookcase, and I'm glad we took our time. We bought two. They're well-built and higher quality than I expected. The wood grain is unusual, but harmonious and not distracting. The legs give them a kind of finished appearance that's perfect in our 1960's apartment. They come assembled - you only have to add the feet - and with the "white glove" service, the guys delivered, set them up and took away all the packing in a jiffy. The only thing I would add is a leveling knob at the bottom of the legs. Our 1960s apartment doesn't have very level floors and it took some futzing with pads to get them even.. Anonymous. Love this bookshelf. Easy to set up (just had to flip the drawer handles). White glove delivery could have been better, they had to leave it in my unit when I wasn't there and they just put it in the middle and didn't unpack it and take away the boxing (which I'd expect with white glove delivery, so keep in mind if ordering that way).. Looks just like the pics. One change I made is to not install the stick on covers over the recessed bolts. The wood color matched, but the wood grain did not. I don't mind seeing the exposed bolts. I may check out the local hardware store and see if there are some solid black plugs that would fit. I think that would add to the modern style.. Michael Edward. Bellingham, WA. Wed Aug 26 2026
