I bought a total of six of these. They work great for about a year, then enough soapy water works down from the top surface, in between the plunger and the well it is in, to cause the plunger to stick in the down position with each depression. The problem comes from the water, in the soapy water that gets into the close space between the plunger and the well, evaporates, but the soap doesn’t, becomes sticky, and holds the plunger down with each use when enough builds up. The only fix is to take the top - containing the plunger, flush the soap out of the pump chamber with water, immerse the top in very hot, clean water, and work the plunger up and down many dozens of times to try to work enough hot water into the very close space between the plunger and the plunger well to get that soap back into solution and out of that space. When this plunger-sticking effect sets in I found I had to do this at every fill. (I use simplehuman’s fragrance-free soap.) I gave up using these dispensers as, to me, it was not worth the trouble.
