Everyday design against throwawayism. The proof of good design is to stand the test of everyday use. iittala products are expected to withstand daily wear and tear as well as survive changes in tastes and trends, to remain relevant and cherished.
The oldest iittala products date back to the 1930's, long before Scandinavian design came to the attention of the world. With the thinking of legendary designers Kaj Franck (1911-1989) and Alvar Aalto (1898-1976) at the heart of the brand, iittala continues to be a major driving force of design.
Established in 1881, iittala has a long tradition of glass craftsmanship. Mouth-blown, non-leaded crystal in combination with vibrant colors has long been a staple of the brand as can be seen in the Aalto vase and the Toikka collectible birds. In addition to the art glass, iittala has proven successful with their supremely combinable lines of dinnerware.
iittala objects hold a deeper meaning, beyond the shape and surface function. Some may seem ingenious while others are kind and rewarding. iittala believes that creating the perfect glass starts with the hand that will hold it and with questions about what the hand would prefer to hold. All products are compatible with one another to cater for every occasion as well as personal taste. Many of iittala's earliest designs are still in demand and in production. Objects with a clear thought, created in order to achieve long lasting, everyday use and inspiration. For you, your children, and their children's children.

Comments about iittala Taika 13.5 Oz. Blue Mug:
The cups are so colorful and simply wonderful! I am rinking more tea and coffee so I can have them visible. So far they have held up to washing and a bumps on my stone countertops without chipping, and surviving rough handling from my 12 yr old losing and unloading the dishwasher. I love the bright colors and the Scandinavian folk styling. I intend to purchase more pcs.

Comments about iittala Taika 13.5 Oz. Blue Mug:
I love the design on these mugs but wish the images were a little crisper, but then again, hand painted porcelain like this would be way out of my price range. The mugs are thin but durable and comfortable. Stated on the bottom is printing that they are freezer safe and I can attest to the fact that they are microwave and dishwasher safe also as stated. I got tired of buying hand painted stoneware only to have it chip. These are durable and fun and the magical characters make me happy. Because they are a bit thin they tend to be hot to handle, compared to thicker stoneware, and speaking of handles, these accommodate three fingers, not four, but are simply and beautifully designed.

Comments about iittala Taika 13.5 Oz. Blue Mug:
Great item! Not that porous light ceramic that chips at first use, but nice, dense, heavy, solid ceramic. Very nice feel and weight, with gorgeous artwork. I only wish the pictures were clear to let the shopper know that the mug has both the owl AND peacock motifs, and not just the owl. I ended up buying a bowl in white, so I could get the peacock too, when I would have preferred to get another cup in blue.
Service and delivery comments:
Extremely well packed.
