Tapio Wirkkala (1915-1985) is known as the versatile master of Finnish design. With his signature Tapio series, Wirkkala's master technique captures a bubble in every mouth-blown glass, a small reminder to enjoy the fleeting moment. Only and in-depth knowledge of the material and sensitivity to the meaning of an object can produce such a thought. Just as Tapio is his first name, the glass bubble has become his personal signature of sensitivity to the art of glassmaking.

Established in 1881, iittala has a long tradition of glass craftsmanship. Mouth-blown, non-leaded crystal in combination with vibrant colors has long been a staple of the brand as can be seen in the Aalto vase and the Toikka collectible birds. In addition to the art glass, iittala has proven successful with their supremely combinable lines of dinnerware.

These glasses are sturdy, yet elegant. Traditionally for Aquavit, the glasses are placed in the freezer ahead of use. The solid base on these glasses helps them retain the cold. Also, note that the actual volume is 4 cl, which is about 1.35 US ounces.
