Designer Jeff Weber was born in Blue Earth, Minnesota. From a young age, he was interested in the way things worked mechanically. He recalls, “I was always tinkering—building things or tearing things apart.” Weber credits his found love of furniture design to Bill Strumpf. Once an underling for Strumpf’s Minneapolis firm, Weber is now a major part of “Strumpf, Weber + Associates.” Today, Weber is very interested in finding better ways to do things, from “human-powered vehicles” to water purifying systems and improved furniture. Having won the Gold Award for Best of NeoCon, and the Best of IIDEX/NeoCon Canada for his design of the Caper Chair for Herman Miller in 1999, Weber believes that “too often, good design is expensive,” and he wants to break this cliché.
