I am a graphic designer / illustrator now living in downtown Toronto. I was born in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania and graduated from Edinboro University. I design because frankly other than illustrating there is nothing else I could imagine doing with my life. I began in the film industry doing everything from boom mic operator to editing and then found design. I have always been fascinated by the problem solving of design. I approach my fine art and design both with the intention of solving the problems at hand in the most innovative and appropriate means. Every project is must relate to itself in a fully expansive manner. With out consistency through a product its intention is lost. I am interested in all forms of media and movements in art. My strongest interest lies with where is design going. I am constantly absorbing new forms of art and media for ideas. I love speaking and collaboration with artists and designers because of my point of view on this topic. I believe design will move to a more communal forum in a short time. The field is all encompassing upon human interests and opinions in life so with out a communal thought the intention of the design is limited to a smaller crowdGive a shout out to cleanliness with this oversize "SOAP" soap dish by Umbra, a modern, graphic addition beside any sink or tub.

This soap dish adds a touch of whimsy to our bath tub. It's easy to clean, and just plain fun. My kids love it. I bought one to hold my soap, and a second one just to stand-up and display the word soap in our tub. Cute.
The U+ Studio Collection, which offers a range of sophisticated aesthetics from raw to sleek, can be found exclusively at contemporary design retail specialists.
Umbra began in 1979, when boyhood friends, Paul Rowan and Les Mandelbaum joined forces to create exciting, everyday products that alter the overall aesthetic of a home, beginning with a printed window shade unlike anything then in the market ("umbra" means shade in latin).
Twenty-five years later, Umbra's award-winning design team - 22 men and women from all over the world and notable outside product designers, all under Paul Rowan's direction - remains the heart and soul of the company. Its offices worldwide now house more than 450 people.
