TummyTub USA began with an earnest desire by the founder, Janis McKellar, to share her love of the TummyTub with American parents. Very disappointed in the quality of standard baby bath tubs, Janis set out to find a better alternative before her fourth baby was born. The main goal was to find a bath tub that would keep the baby warm, as she noticed her other babies were cold and uncomfortable on their backs.

In her quest, she discovered the TummyTub while researching online. The babies looked happy and the concept of upright bathing appeared to be the ideal solution. Janis was unable to find a retailer in the US, and took a leap of faith by ordering from Canada and paying high shipping charges and duties to try out the new tub. Not wanting to keep this amazing product all to herself, Janis began importing TummyTub products directly from the manufacturer in Germany to share with friends and family, and eventually sell online.
