French designer Philippe Starck, a revered leader of the New Design style, was named the 1999
Designer of the Year by A&W Architektur & Wohnen. His projects range from spectacular interior design furnishings to contemporary consumer goods, from toothbrushes to chairs. Unlike other New Design artists, Starck's work does not concentrate on the creation of provocative (and expensive) single pieces. Instead, his products are usable household items.
Starck's products are often stylized, streamlined, and organic in their look, constructed using unusual combinations of materials, such as glass and stone, plastic and aluminum, or plush fabric and chrome. We carry a wide variety of Starck’s creations from Kartell, Emeco, Alessi, and more.
