Stadler Form Ionic Silver Cube

Since I'm not a designer of these types of products, it is hard for me to understand the need for one of these cubes. All I can do is take the company's word for it that it will fight against bacteria. I'm guessing it will, but again, it just sits there in the water, not even in a mid-stream setting and given the white plastic box it is in, the water will not flow very easily. I just wish I was given a more technical understanding of the need and way this little "cube" works. The humidifier is great though!
