Tobia Scarpa

"As a designer he is awarded among others the “IF Industrie Forum Design Hannover” in 1992. Several of his objects are exhibited in the most important museums of the world."

  • Having obtained his degree in architecture in 1969, Tobia Scarpa is immediately awarded the “Compasso d’Oro” for the armchair “Soriana”.
  • For the Benetton group he realizes the industrial complex in Castrette di Villorba, and important restorations among which the Palazzo Bomben and the Palazzo Caotorta.
  • Other restorations are the Gallerie dell’Accademia in Venice and the Palazzo del Mercato Vecchio in Verona.
  • In 2004 the Italian Istitute for Culture has dedicated him a personal exhibition in Chicago and in 2005 in Los Angeles. The exhibition will be moved to Washington at the end of 2006.
  • Tobia Scarpa teaches at the department of Design and Arts at the IUAV in Venice
