The Dutch architect Wiel Arets was born in 1955 in the Netherlands. He established Wiel Arets Architect & Associates in Heerlen in 1984 and rose to international fame with his designs for the Academy of Art in Maastricht, and the University Library on the Uithof university campus in Utrecht, both in the Netherlands. He has held a number of academic positions, and since 2004, he has been a professor at the University of Arts in Berlin. He also has industrial designs in collaboration with such leading companies as Alessi and Quinze & Milan. His work tends to be hard-edged and is associated with so-called Calvinist Austerity. Currently, he is working on a characteristic, 150-meter tall A' Tower in Amsterdam.
A small ottoman always comes in handy. The Jellyfish Ottoman is a funky piece of design that is light, easy to clean and has an appealing look. Even when it’s not urgently needed to put your feet, glass, or magazine on, this highly functional piece tributes to the atmosphere just by being there. Spilling on it is not a problem. Its plastic surface can handle almost anything. Choose your preferred color and add the Jellyfish Ottoman to neglected spaces like the bathroom or the garden.

Quinze & Milan:

Created by Arne Quinze in collaboration with guest designers from various disciplines, the Quinze and Milan collection goes beyond furniture design. The products prompt you to spin tales, to dream and to shape a reality all your own. They encompass parts of a whole rather than existing as solitary objects. The unique pieces exude energy and push the envelope of design.
Today furniture by Quinze & Milan can be found in the interiors of some of the most emblematic buildings of the past decade, such as Rem Koolhass’ Public Library in Seattle, while Quinze also designs for other leading brands such as Swarovski, Dark and Moroso. From the outset, Quinze & Milan used the slogan Creators of Atmosphere: a piece of furniture was not an aim in itself but stood for a life style that challenged the reigning minimalism: wild and sexy, carefree and fun, loud and outrageous.
Not only does Quinze and Milan produce furniture at their in-house factory, but they work in close collaboration with specialized manufacturers that makes use of Quinze and Milan’s proprietary equipment when producing designs. As a result, quality products are produced that have great value and the added advantage of flexibility.
