Philippe Bestenheider Switzerland (1971 - )Philippe Bestenheider was born in Sion, Switzerland, in 1971. In 1998 he graduated in architecture from Zürich Polytechnic and has worked for Swiss and US design studios. In 2000 he achieved the Master in Industrial Design at the Domus Academy of Milan, where he has been invited as a workshop leader. From 2001 until 2006 Bestenheider was Senior Designer at the Design studio of Patricia Urquiola in Milan working with several important companies. In 2007 he opened his own studio, working between Switzerland and Milan. In June 2010 he received the Italian national award for innovation, "Premio dei Premi," for the chair Nanook he designed for Moroso. He is currentlydesigning for Moroso, de Sede, Pallucco, Fratelli Boffi, Varaschin, Frag and Nilufar Gallery.
Nanook is the first collection for Moroso by young Swiss designer Philippe Bestenheider, who worked in the studio of Patricia Urquiola. Nanook is the result of his ongoing design research into surface fragmentation, molecular structures and the transition from two dimensions to three.
