Four almost 500 bucks I would expect better overall finish First, be warned that the legs are a brushed â€satin†stainless steel finish (absolutely nothing wrong with this finish, but I expected a more highly polished brushed stainless steel finish). The legs look like someone finished them with fine sandpaper, for a fine â€brushed satin†look. The wood walnut veneer looks great on the top. The details are lacking on both ends, where the joint meets at the three way corner and the two edge. In other words you can see the sloppy gaps in the joints where the veneers should meet to form a clean edge (looks like someone took sandpaper to correct but in fact made it worst). 3. The â€drawer†slides opens along the long axis of the coffee table, again, nothing wrong with this but you must use two hands to open it. It would be nice if the drawer slide was smooth enough so you could open it with only one hand. The inside of the draw is finished in a cheap, cheap plastic looking veneer (not the same stuff they are using on the top). The sliding mechanism is exposed when you open the drawer and again nothing wrong with this but, clear this slider was never design be â€seenâ€. I wished the manufacturer would have considered this more because it could have been a beautiful design element of the table (the slide mechanism is black, does not match any other element in the design). The â€drawerâ€, i.e. the interior space is large and will hold many books and magazines. Originally, we consider this table because we were looking for a â€hiding†place to store the three remotes we need to watch TV, but as I mentioned above the drawer take two hands to opens so I don’t think the remotes will spend much time there. The bottoms of the legs are unfinished with a 38 inch â€washer†that acts as the leg (point of contact) that sits on the floor. Since we have wood floors I wish they would have finished the bottom of this â€washer†with a piece of nylon. You definitely have to add felt pads. Though, clearly show in the photo on their site, the ends are not flush. I didn’t mind it in the photo on their site but in real life it is an unaspiring element, looking not quite resolved. I like the â€industrial†look of the table but the whole designed is really not considered well. I love the idea of this table but not the execution. I would not recommend. One final note: I probably should have read the fine print but I called instead and the customer service rep. said that if we didn’t like it for any reason that we would only be charged shipping return (one-way) for about 99 bucks, but when I called today they said I would be responsible for shipping charges both ways, for over 200 bucks-ouch! |
