Oscar Tusquets Spain (1941 - )
Oscar Tusquets was born in Barcelona in 1941. After study at the Escuela de Artes y Oficios in Barcelona, he worked from 1961 to 1964 in the office of Federico Correa where he imbibed the principles of the Barcelona School. Later , in 1964, a year before graduating at the Escuela T?cnica Superior de Arquitectura, he set up the associate practice PEP with Llu?s Clotet, Pep Bonet and Cristian Cirici. In 1972 he branched out into design, co-founding with his PEP associates and other collaborators the design company B.D. Edixiones de Dise±o for which he has since designed furniture and objects. As an architect, his special relationship with Clotet resulted in the Casa Full? in Barcelona (1968-70), the Villa Reg?s and its Belvedere in Llofriu (Gerona, 1970-72), the Villa Vittoria on the island of Pantelleria (1972-75), the restoration and extension of the Palau de la M?sica Catalana in Barcelona (1981-83).With Carlos D?az he set up the Tusquets, D?az and Assoc. Practice in Barcelona with interests ranging from architecture and planning to interior and commercial design. More recent work includes a residential complex in Fukuoka (Japan, 1987-90), public spaces and residential accommodation at the Olympic Village in Barcelona (1988-92), the Heliopolis administrative building in the Antigone quarter of Montpellier (1989-93), and the Sant Gervasi residential and shopping complex in Barcelona (1991-96). The practice is currently working on projects in the Canary Islands (Parque del Mar, Hotel El Rincon, Las Palmas) and has opened a new office in Las Palmas.
