"When I approach an architectural problem," Finnish architect and interior designer Eero Saarinen once said, "I try to think out the real significance of it. What is its essence and how can the total structure capture that essence?" Fellow designer Florence Knoll put forth the challenge of creating "a chair she could curl up in." The Womb chair was Saarinen's response to that question; a unique piece of furniture that will surely be the center of attention, wherever it is placed in your home.
The Design
The Womb chair, with its matching ottoman, was designed in 1948, part of Saarinen's breakthrough seating collection. The Womb's steel rod base and polished chrome or black powder-coat finish, combined with its upholstered frame totally covering a fiberglass shell, highlight Saarinen's brilliant design aesthetic and his architectural skills. In addition to its unique look, the chair is luxuriously comfortable. Called the Womb for a reason, the chair is designed to facilitate a relaxed sitting posture which in turn provides total comfort and a sense of security. The Child's Womb Chair, sized at 75% of the 1948 original, is perfect for children with discerning taste.

- A white glove delivery team consists of at least two people so you will not be burdened with carrying your order from the back of the truck to your home.

- Packaging: The shipper will remove and dispose of all packaging.
