An essential lamp which is characterized by its "subtle interpretations of the modern theme". Made in all the colors of the rainbow, its unique shape is designed to catch the most light. What's more, the special transparency of the material and the sheen of the colors bring to mind a soap bubble, incandescent with reflections of light. They are available individually but suitable for hanging in groups of three or more to enhance their delicate chromatic variations.

DESIGNER FERRUCCIO LAVIANI

Ferruccio Laviani Ferrucio Laviani is part of a generation of young Italian designers who came to prominence in the early 90's when the Memphis movement made its mark on international design. Born in 1960, Laviani studied both architecture and design in Milan, graduating with a degree in architecture in 1986. Soon thereafter, he took part in the "12 Newcomers" Memphis collection in 1986 and the "Living on Earth" Memphis collection in 1987, launching his career with ties to the colorful and idiosyncratic design movement.

Laviani went on to design whimsical, colorful furniture and objects that reminds us of its exuberant and expressive mission. Laviani's Orbital Lamp of 1991, perhaps his best known design, used color-saturated biomorphic shapes for the glass shades, and an angular, tapering metal base, bringing to mind the organic emphasis and optimism of the '50s, while his Max table combines multi-use practicality with his signature curvilinear forms.

Ferruccio Laviani marks the transition between his generation and those before him through his collaborations with his elders and mentors. He's worked with Kartell, Foscarini, Achille Castiglioni, and Ettore Sottsass. Along with his talented colleagues, Laviani exemplifies the best of Italian design, present and future.

Even though the rest of the room is an eclectic, not so modern collection, the light offers a simple and clean focus. Its translucency allows for a connected presence of the existing wall and floor decorations and their colors. The rosettecanopy is small - had to buy a larger canopy to cover the existing ceiling opening - but that was an easy fix. Service Review Service was excellent. It was promised to be delivered sometime in Dec, but it arrived at my door by the end of October. Also, I had a phone conversation at the time of purchase and that sales person was extremely accommodating and helpful. Emailed photos of the color before I committed. Was this helpful? Yes / No
Pat from Montreal, Canada	5.0 8/23/2010 Fits perfectly in my dining room I felt in love with that lamp when I was on vacation in Europe and was just disappointed to see who much they sell it here in Canada (over 400$).Everything went well ([...], installation, etc.).For those who like a pure design object, that lamp is just perfect. In black (I can't say for other color versions), we get superb bulb reflections. that's add to the visual value of the lamp. Was this helpful? Yes / No
