This is the second bed we ordered like this because we bought the first one (a larger size) for our dog but our cat claimed it immediately and wouldnt let our dog near it! So, to avoid a war, we bought this second, smaller one, just for the cat ). The 2 beds are now side-by-side right in front of the fireplace and both the cat and dog cuddle up in their OWN matching bed ) and BOTH are in heaven. The shipping was lightning fast. The item is very high quality, furniture grade fabric, it seems, very thick and soft at the same time. The only part of it you can unzip and throw in the washer is the center cushion cover. The surround part doesnt zip off. Ive washed the cushion cover several times and they come out of the washing machine (wash in cold) looking new, no fading or pilling so far. And then a few minutes on a low heat setting in the dryer and they are perfect. I spot clean the surround part with a washcloth and warm water and mild soap and sometimes just vacuum it. Its cleans very easily and dries quickly. We have a white dog and a white cat, so their hair does show up on this darker material, but a few swipes of the lint brush every morning and it comes right off. We love how sturdy these beds are, the sides are nice and firm and the beds keeps its shape, so they look new, tidy and presentable always. They are not the kind of flimsy bed that becomes an eye-sore in your home after a short time. If I had to find a flaw, it would be that the pillow insert is a tad noisy at first. Kind of a loud crunchy sound when the pet moves around on the pillow. So we would not reccommend this bed be put next to your own bed, because that sound might keep you awake all night. But we noticed that the longer weve had them that the crunchy sound is going away more and more each day (just took some time for the filling to get broken-in, I guess).
