Coastal / Tropical:
These products are influenced by
styles from overseas and often
include such elements as rattan,
seagrass, wicker, palm trees and
seashells.
Cottage:
Cottage style pieces are
generally smaller scale
upholstery pieces that are
slipcovered or pictured in plaid
or floral fabrics.
Mission / Shaker:
Mission style items have lots of
vertical slats, and simple
horizontal-vertical lines.
Shaker furniture is very simple,
similar to mission without the
slates, often made from darker
wood tones.
Rustic / Lodge:
Lodge style is a rugged look
where upholstery piece may have
natural wood accents.
Transitional:
Transitional pieces are simpler
than traditional, but not 100%
modern. Soft, clean lines, but
lacking ornate detail like the
traditional style.

rolled or slightly curved arms.
Many will have nail head or wood
inlay along the base and up the
arms or have tufted cushions.
Most feet are wooden blocks and
the top of the back shape is
straight across or has a slight
hump
Modern / Contemporary:

simple and can be nontraditional
shapes and sizes.
Casual:
Casual style is designed for
comfort rather than aesthetics.
Casual products often have
pillow top arms, which are
fluffy cushions sewn on the top
/ inside side of the arm and
additional pillow top seat
cushions that make it very
comfortable.
