Noguchi table is a piece of art

    JC from MD– Verified Buyer

What can I say that hasn't been mentioned in other reviews. I waited for several months for the semi-annual Herman Miller sale to purchase this table and it was worth the wait. The Noguchi table is beautiful and well made. If you apply some force to the edge, the table will wobble a bit but it is structurally sound in contrast to the what I've read about the knockoffs that sell for a fraction of the price. My active two year old has climbed on top of it and we've had no issues with it.

Purchasing the table through Wayfair gets you free shipping and no tax. The delivery guys unpacked everything and disposed of the boxes. I was disappointed that they did not put the glass table top onto the legs because they said the table did not come with required rubber spacers. The table top is very heavy and will require at 2 people to put it on the legs. Nevertheless, note that rubber spacers are not needed. When on the legs, the glass does slide a bit if pushed but it's heavy enough not to move if nudged.

Overall, we're very happy with the purchase and I'd still buy it through Wayfair given my positive history with them.

    Simple Elegance

Linda from Poway, CA– Verified Buyer

My father had the original Noguchi table when he and mom were first married. They sold it when they moved to California and he never stopped talking about it for forty years. I love its simple elegance so I purchased it for my own living room. Dad was so thrilled to see this wonderful table once again. This time in my house.

    Amazing

Willemina from Pacific Palisades, CA– Verified Buyer

I have wanted this table for years. In fact I almost bought a replica a few years ago. I held out though for the real thing and I'm so happy I did. It is a complete joy to look at and for such an artsy piece it is entirely functional -- you can even configure it differently. It is the perfect size for a small or big space. I highly recommend this piece to anyone who is considering it.

    The best quality

Nancy from Seattle, WA– Verified Buyer

It's a beautiful design. I got the black lacquered version which accentuates the curves on the legs. It's a very large table and I'm glad I had the room for it. I shopped a long time to be sure that I wanted to spring the bucks. There is a certain time of year that Noguchi goes on sale--I think it's in November which gives a good savings.

    Very modern coffee table

Cindy from Arnegard, ND– Verified Buyer

I love love love this table! Very modern the glass is very heavy and the designers name can be seen . There are a lot of copy cat tables designed after this, but I like the original designer furniture . I am very proud to own this and show it in my contemporary home

    About the Designer

    Isamu Noguchi

    Isamu Noguchi United States (1904 - 1988)

Isamu Noguchi, born in 1904 in Los Angeles to the Japanese poet Yone Noguchi and the American writer Leonie Gilmour, studied at Columbia University and the Leonardo da Vinci Art School. He subsequently established his first independent studio and received a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1927. He then worked as an assistant to Constantin Brancusi in Paris and presented his first solo exhibition in New York. He studied brush drawing in China and worked with ceramics under Jinmatsu Uno in Japan. His experiences living and working in different cultural circles are reflected in his work as an artist. Isamu Noguchi is considered a universal talent with a creative oeuvre that went beyond sculpture to encompass stage sets, furniture, lighting, interiors as well as outdoor plazas and gardens. His sculptural style is indebted to a vocabulary of organic forms and exerted a sustained influence on the design of the 1950s. “My father, Yone Noguchi, is Japanese and has long been known as an interpreter of the East to the West, through poetry. I wish to fulfill my heritage”, he wrote in his proposal for a Guggenheim Fellowship. Isamu Noguchi died in New York in 1988.

Design is an integral part of the business. The product must be honest. You decide what you will make. There is a market for good design. While fashion and style have their place, the main criterion for a Herman Miller ® product has remained constant: Does it truly solve a problem that people care about in a way that improves upon other solutions, or pioneers a new and better answer altogether? The answer is Yes.
