The origins of the Flex Lamp lie in designer Sam Hecht's visit to a cafe, where the harsh flourescent lighting prevented him from deriving any satisfaction from his tea and toast. At that point he was inspired to confront the challenge of using a long-lasting flourescent bulb in a way that felt organic and produced warm, inviting lighting. The Flex Light is the result of this endeavor: its malleable silicone shade creates a pleasant, natural effect.
