Droog is an innovative enterprise based in Amsterdam. Founded in 1993 by Gijs Bakker and Renny Ramakers as a statement on design, common themes have consistently run through their projects: creating innovative concepts that change perspective and connecting the product to the individual. Their products generate experience, interaction and participation; they solve problems and challenge conventional assumptions. Above all, they are meant to be cherished and not discarded without thought.
Droog collaborates with a wide variety of designers, partners, clients, manufacturers and projects. Cutting edge designers from all over the world experiment with new concepts, new materials and new techniques but also with age-old craft methods. Prolific designers such as Marcel Wanders, Tejo Remy, Jurgen Bey and others have collaborated with Droog. While the backgrounds and interests of Droog’s designers vary wildly, experimentation and innovation are always key components of Droog’s design vision.

Comments about Droog Bird House:
This is the funkiest bird feeder I have ever seen. It looks really attractive in my backyard. But it does not attract birds! The problem is that functionality has been sacrificed for looks (perhaps the artist has never seen a bird feeder in action?). The roof is too close to the bottom plate so that only a tiny bird could possibly fit in and it is really difficult to put bread in it. Also, the plate is ceramic which is not really practical in an outdoor environment. I have yet to see a single bird use it. But it does look nice!
