About the Designer
Enzo Mari Italy (1932 - )
Enzo Mari (1932, Novara) is a designer, thinker and provocateur. Determined to develop mass produced objects without compromising his belief that the outcome should always be beautiful to look at and feel while being functional, Mari developed '16 Animali' (Danese, 1957), '3087 Vase' (Danese, 1969), the chairs 'Sof Sof' and 'Box' (Driade, 1971 and Castelli, 1975) and 'Smith and Smith' kitchen tools (Zani and Zani, 1987), which are just some of his more than2000 projects that have marked design history.
Nature Series. Hung by means of two horizontally-placed strips. It becomes one of Danese production's symbols, this series is one of those few examples that reach the object of creating, for home environment, an artistic idea built on a concept of seriality. It does not exist an original object, for this kind of work, this is because we obtain the final image after long technical processing on series. Mari looks for shape and technics of representation, a sort of "super icona".
